Sheffield United's Bramall Lane floor was, from 1854 , the house of the Sheffield Cricket Club, and then of Yorkshire; it was not used for football until 1862 and was shared by Yorkshire and Sheffield United from 1889 to 1973. Most worldwide matches are performed as elements of 'tours', when one nation travels to a different for a selection of weeks or months, and plays a variety of matches of varied kinds in opposition to the host nation. Sometimes a perpetual trophy is awarded to the winner of the Test series, probably the most well-known of which is The Ashes. Each member nation has a national cricket board which regulates cricket matches played in its nation, selects the national squad, and organises house and away excursions for the nationwide team.
